The federal government's Consumer Sentinel fraud database has reported 29 percent of the total identity theft complaints recieved last year were from people age 18 to 29 years old.
Rule #1: Keep personal information locked up, especially if you have many friends visiting. ex. cell and credit card bills.
Rule #2: Watch your wallet
Rule #3: Never carry your social security card around
Rule #4: Always read a Web site's privacy policy before you give out personal info. online.
Rule #5: Download firewalls and anti spyware often.
Rule #6: You may want to pull a copy of your credit report. After March 1st, a new federal law will allow everyone to get a free copy of their credit report every year. For more info. visit www.ftc.gov
